The only thing the mind wants, the only thing all our desires seek, is love. The restlessness of our mind shows us that our mind will never stop seeking and desiring until it finds permanent love. Our mind leaves one place of restlessness and goes on to the next – the next person, place or thing outside. Our restless mind has only one quest; to find complete love.
The mind seeks perfect stillness, perfect repose. This repose is only available in the true Self within. The pure awareness that is our true Self is God – and God is experienced as everlasting peace and love. This peace and love will only be realized when we experience the Self within, in the supreme stillness.
Our mind can not find eternal, unconditional love anywhere except in God. When we experience God within, as the true Self, the mind becomes steady, and we realize we are That love.
We can try and still the mind, stop its fluctuations, but we will discover that the only way to accomplish this is to immerse the mind in love – the love that is God, the ecstasy that is the true Self. Once we do this, even if we try to move, we will remain steady because we are immersed in pure love. Our mind has finally merged into its Source, its purpose, its Self.
Our spiritual path is meaningless without love. Our only purpose is the realization of God. Love turns us into a temple of wisdom. Love is our very Self; absolute bliss consciousness. That is God. That is why we meditate.
