Is my awareness in this space or is this space in my awareness?
We make the universe manifest within ourselves in the sky of the one consciousness. We, who are the universe, are its creator. We, for a moment, cause it to persist and then we dissolve it within. There exists no outside, no other, no distinction, no separation. Our consciousness is the only existence, The only intelligence, the only power, the only understanding.
As we meditate and neutralize the impressions that hide the source of mind -the true Self- we expand our experience and understanding of the consciousness we are. We become the witness of the mind, the watcher of action, always living in the awareness that is the one Self. In this state of Cosmic awareness, we end our coming and going, our karma. But this is not the final goal. Even as we become the witness of the three states, (waking, dreaming and deep sleep) we experience a trace of separation.
As we continue our spiritual practices, we refine our gross and subtle senses and literally see the light of God permeating creation, the soft blue of consciousness. Inside, we are graced with the beatific vision of the Lord. The universe is seen in the light of Shiva. But this experience still holds the subtlest sense of separation between God and us.
In the final realization, that absolute overwhelms the relative and we realize the true unity of existence. There is only the one consciousness, that we are. There is only the one Self, that we are. The universe is us, the existence is us, the bliss is us, the awareness is us. Our consciousness is omnipresent, universal, all-pervasive. At this point, we have the choice where our intellect can hold lesha avidya, a trace of ignorance (or the shadow of separation) that shows itself as devotion to God or Guru, but our awareness no longer experiences differences, separation or other. God and us are one. The realization dawns, through the shift in relationship and over a short time, that creation is our play, a dream we create, maintain and destroy within ourselves, made out of our power and awareness, a play of light and shadow projected on the screen of our awareness.
