All through our life, we want this or that. We desire one thing or another and our lives become consumed with desire. Lacking knowledge of the Truth, we choose according to our interests, not understanding if they are good or bad for us. Our desires change as our whims change and we never really find lasting peace, happiness and satisfaction. Only when we know our true Selves, the divine consciousness that is us, do we find what we are seeking. When we experience the Self, which is absolute, bliss consciousness, we experience supreme bliss and thus supreme satisfaction.
When we realize Brahman, whatever is not known is known. When we know Brahman, the one vast consciousness that is everything, the desire for all knowledge, for all people, places and things is fulfilled. Then we become satisfied and peaceful. Distinction, desire and differentiation vanish, and we become all-pervasive awareness.
When we attain the bliss of liberation, everything is attained. We need not get something else or go anywhere to find it. It exists always within us. God’s nature is complete satisfaction within Himself and He is within us, as us. In God, there is neither dissatisfaction nor desire. When we know God, when we know the Self that is Brahman, there is no more asking, searching, begging or praying. The difference between God and His devotee vanishes. Duality becomes unity. We find That which we have always been.
This knowing lies beyond the fluctuations of the mind; in the stillness of the thought-free state. When we transcend the mind, we realize the silence that is the one awareness. We discover God; the One consciousness we have always been.
Most of us cannot control our mind. But through meditation, devotion and grace we can regain access to stillness and our Divinity.
Lord Krishna said, “The wise, engaged in devotional service, take refuge in the Lord, and free themselves from the cycle of birth and death by renouncing the fruits of their actions.” Renunciation is stillness of mind, the end of duality, and the end of desire. When we realize we are one with God and know the silence of transcending the fluctuations of the mind, we find who we have always been. We serve God’s will and purpose by knowing our divinity.
