In the story of the priest and the prostitute, the prostitute would look upon the priest and think, “What a holy and good being. How great is he. What a blessing is he.” The priest would look upon the prostitute and think, “What a wretched woman. How she is filled with sin and evil.” When they died, the priest was sent to hell and the prostitute was sent to heaven. The priest asked the passport office why he was being sent to hell. They said, “The prostitute only thought good, loving, respectful thoughts. Your mind thought only condemning, judgmental and cruel thoughts.”
Do we look out at the world and see its faults, its cruelty and its sins or do we see its beauty and blessings? Do we look inside ourselves and think we are worthless or do we think we are the light of God? Do we see only imperfection and sin or the reality that God is all there is? Have we become our own worst enemy or our greatest friend?
Develop the skill of thinking good of others. Train our mind to see the beauty, the glory, the preciousness of life. Look inside and experience the divinity, the light and the all-pervasiveness of our true Self. We have the choice. We make the decision. We live in the atmosphere of these choices.
If we look at the faults of others, the faults will grow in them and in us as those vibrations spread. If we look at the beauty, the purity and the good, those vibrations will grow and spread inside of us and throughout this world. Every thought we think leaves its traces inside of us and in the world. If we direct a thought at another, that thought will expand first and most powerfully within us. If it is pure and uplifting or if it is negative, that is what will expand within and that is what we will become. Every thought is a seed being planted to sprout and grow within us. We eat its fruit.
Let the negative thoughts go, never repressing them, never focusing upon them and never acting upon them. Train ourselves to replace them with thoughts of virtue, of God, of mantra and of high vibration. We will become the highest and we will spread the highest within and without. Let us allow only good thoughts to move in our minds and plant the seeds of God’s light within ourselves and throughout this world.
Blessings,
