We all want relief when our mind wanders uncontrollably in an inner land filled with fear. The Ramayana says, “The fearful time, which is like death, comes when the mind forgets about God and starts wandering here and there.”
When ego vibrates, separation and differences begin to dominate our experience. Duality replaces unity. Fear arises from our sense of duality. In this experience of fear, we live in the constructed identity, created by our ego. Living as our constructed self, our mind operates in the resistance of attachment and aversion, creating endless desires that are all grasping for happiness where it cannot be found. In this misunderstanding and confusion, the mind thinks uncontrollably. This condition is called our fearful time.
There is one quick solution. Remember God. Take refuge in His name. His name is mantra – the form of God. Mantra is His bliss and HIs power and HIs consciousness. When we take shelter in His name, then, His absolute bliss consciousness permeates our inner atmosphere, purifying the ego and the impressions that hide our true Self. We have the power to replace the fearful time with God.
