When we do not know God directly, we fail to understand His will. In the absence of this understanding, our lives become governed by our egoic, selfish tendencies. Instead of being guided by God’s wisdom, we fall under the control of our own limited desires. This leads to a life dominated by selfishness, where our personal will conflicts with God’s greater purpose, resulting in suffering.

God’s dominion extends over two phases of existence: the Absolute, which is unchanging, and the relative, which is ever-changing. It is God’s will that the Absolute remains constant while the relative undergoes perpetual change. This dynamic aspect of relative existence is essential for fulfilling God’s purpose, which unfolds through the process of evolution. Evolution brings greater happiness, intelligence, freedom, creativity, power, and a deeper realization of God. This is His aim.

The immense power of evolution is the driving force behind the entire relative creation. It is an expression of God’s invincible will. Like an unstoppable, all-powerful stream, this force propels the continuous evolution of every particle in creation.

When our will aligns with this evolutionary stream, and our actions produce life-supporting and elevating influences in harmony with God’s will, we experience the bliss of expansion. Conversely, when our actions generate influences that hinder the evolution of life, our lives come into conflict with God’s purpose. Resisting the invincible evolutionary stream leads to friction and suffering.

There is a direct relationship between the resistance we create against this stream and the degree of our suffering. Likewise, the more we support and align with the stream of evolution, the greater our happiness.

This is why we meditate, chant, pray, and act selflessly: to connect directly with God, to understand His will, and to align our lives with the laws of Nature and His purpose. Through our spiritual practices, we dissolve resistance to the evolutionary stream and immerse ourselves in the boundless expansion of happiness, intelligence, freedom, creativity, power, and divine realization. This is also why we follow the path laid out by the great saints and avatars who taught us how to live in alignment with God’s will.
