The main issues facing people today revolve around our physical and mental health, money and problems with other people. We are firmly convinced that when we get what we need and our problems are resolved, we will acquire happiness. We have been conditioned that if we get our health, our money, our way, when we have more progress, acquire more things and find pleasure, we will somehow get our happiness. But desires produce more desires, not happiness. This approach always ends in dissatisfaction because the thing outside can never reveal the source of happiness.
We have forgotten our origin. We have lost sight of our humanity. Our inner consciousness is the exact same awareness that created this universe. God is absolute bliss consciousness and That is our Self.
We have become an individual, living in a created image, grasping for what we think will bring us happiness. We grasp for love, acceptance and belonging. We live in an endless stream of desires and believe their outcomes will grant us our ultimate goal of happiness. We play our roles convinced that when we are worthy, when we have our things and when we create perfect conditions, we will somehow be granted happiness. If we could penetrate beneath our image, beneath our roles, beneath our grasping, we would know our divinity. Instead of seeking the highest knowledge, we eat, drink, argue for our rightness, seek pleasure and resist pain.
The purpose of living is to reveal our Self. If we remain lost in the pairs of opposites, remaining a separate individual, we will live in the dream that we are our ageing body and dissonant mind, locked into the selfishness of ego, grasping for outcomes. When we know our Self, when we become the witness of the mind, we become one with God.
We assign the value to things. We prioritize our life based upon these values. Look at our list and see what has attained the highest place in our life. Is it beauty, money, degrees, status, acceptance? Is knowing the true Self, revealing the Self as God, even on our list? Is the only thing that can give life meaning and allow us to realize we are bliss, joy and happiness valued? It is only in this human body that we can realize God and that is our most precious opportunity.
We want the highest bliss, permanent joy and ecstasy. This is not available in the outer world, only inside. But we neither understand this nor prioritized this. Bliss is within us. It is our true Self. But we are always superimposing our own inner joy onto something outside and then believing the happiness comes from out there. When we give up our misperception, we can finally relax, turn within and reveal the happiness that we are and have always been.
Going within can present a turbulent mind, but the bliss of the Self is beyond this as the Source of the mind. The inherent bliss of this Source draws the awareness to it and, in the stillness, we realize our divinity, our purpose, our meaning and our happiness. This is why we meditate and practice.
Blessings,
