There is but one thing to renounce; regarding something as ours which does not belong to us. This means that our delusion is identifying ourselves with that which is not the Self.
We are absolute bliss consciousness, Brahman, the true Self of all, yet we identify as our body, mind and feelings. We have forgotten we are pure awareness that is the witness of the waking, dreaming and deep sleep states.
It is the ego that causes this limited identification and reduces God to a limited individual soul. The ego has transformed the One into many. It has caused us to feel imperfect, different and the doer of action. It has turned bliss and happiness into separation and sorrow.
This entire world is consciousness; God. This world is not an obstacle. It was created to reveal God. This world is identical with the one Self. There is nothing more happening than the realization of our own Self. By realizing our all-pervading consciousness we realize, ‘As here, so everywhere’. Our viewpoint shifts. Differences dissolve. ‘Other’ evaporates. We can see ‘the One’ is all that exists and distinction is no more.
Through meditation, we become what we have always been. We dissolve the impressions that veil the true Self and we shift our identity from that which is always changing to the changeless. We are Divine Consciousness, the One without a second. We shift from experiencing life in terms of outer sense objects to seeing life as it is – a divine play of consciousness. As the witness, life becomes a permanent meditation in which all material pleasures have become God.
Our tendency to differentiate, our sense of duality, is the root cause of fear and lack of peace. When we meditate and become the One divine consciousness, this awareness becomes infused into our mind. We become the witness of all action. This infusion allows the individual soul to reveal its divinity, its Godhead.
