Our search for meaning, for happiness and for purpose ultimately comes down to walking a path to discover Truth. Each step we take in life reveals more to us; the direction to go, the speed to walk, the people and things we take with us. Ultimately, toward the end of the path, we discover that the only thing that brings us permanent joy, permanent happiness and permanent peace is God.
We create, along our path, desires that we think will satisfy. We end up realizing that our desires exhaust us. They end up being grains of sand in a desert of unfulfillment. These desires might bring a moment of pleasure in obtaining them, but then disappoint. The search and the desires and the unfulfillment never seem to end so we distract ourselves.
The only thing capable of permanent bliss, permanent fulfillment and permanent satisfaction is God. God is everywhere, but God is most easily known within. God is one with the Self. This is why we meditate; to know the Self, the Pure Consciousness within.
To find Truth, we must experience God. It is not sufficient to study or intellectually understand God. It is necessary to realize God, know God as Self. Then our search for Truth reaches fulfillment. To find fulfillment in our search for meaning, happiness and purpose, ask God to be the only love reigning on the throne of our desires.
