We have been trained to believe peace and happiness come from our mind and the world outside. The only peace and happiness possible come from the Source of the mind – our pure consciousness that is the true Self. To know That, we need stillness.
When we release our attachment to those incessant thoughts and feelings in our mind, we can allow them to arise and subside without becoming them. That leaves us with space; moments of stillness between and underlying the thoughts. When we start to experience that Presence that underlies our mental activity, we discover we are Source, we are stillness, we are peace and happiness. We don’t need to become something different or fix our Self. We simply let the chatter inside alone. We watch it play out. We allow just that bit of space to reveal the light of God, the Self. Then we have the goal of everything we do, want or have. This is why we release attachment and meditate. In that moment of revelation, our entire perspective shifts.
