It is so easy to become caught up in the divisions, opinions and stands that the world is espousing today. The pairs of opposites dominate our friendships, families, politics and stances. There appears to be no room for understanding or compromise.
From a spiritual standpoint, all stances, opinions and viewpoints belong to the mind and ego. When we transcend our mind, we find consciousness. The pairs of opposites dissolve into awareness. The rights and wrongs, the left and right and the good and evil become still. Then the chaos, ego and strife end in silence.
The play of consciousness manifests from one consciousness into differences. It’s not that there shouldn’t be differences. They make the world interesting. They power the play. But those on a spiritual path have the chance to soften the divisions, to shave off the harsh edges and not hold so graspingly to the opposites. When we are captured by our mind and when we become our thoughts, there is a tendency to become attached to opinions and stances. In doing so, we solidify the veil that hides pure awareness and unity. In releasing that attachment, we soften and unveil what hides our true Self.
There are enough people in the world to power the play and the divisions and the opposites. For the few on a spiritual path, it’s OK to have an opinion, but realize what it is; a stance the ego is taking. The only truth is that God is everything; pure awareness, stillness and the entire play of consciousness. When the few realize and touch the transcendent – going beyond the mind and its opposites – we thrill the transcendent. Because that transcendent is the foundation of all of life, when that is thrilled, all of life remembers and experiences a tiny spark of realization. What gift of peace and love could be more powerful.
