From the most intimate perspective, God is the witness of our mind. The mind is God’s garden where He creates thoughts and understandings. While the mind cannot know the witness, the witness makes the mind. This witness is the indwelling Self, the supreme consciousness that we call immortal God.
When the mind becomes still, that witness is what remains. When the mind thinks, that witness is covered over by the thoughts. We think God is far away because our minds are always thinking and continually hiding that supreme consciousness. When the mind becomes silent and merges back into its source, we realize that our true Self is that witness, that source of mind.
When God is our consciousness, how can He be far away? How can we think there is any difference between God and us? He experiences everything we think, say and do because he is us. His consciousness is our consciousness.
There is only one power, one shakti, one energy in existence. That is God’ shakti, God’s power. Every movement, every expansion, every manifestation is moved by God’s power. Every thought we create, every sense perception we experience, every movement we make is powered by God’s power. When God’s power is our power, how can he be far away? How can we think there is any difference between God and us? Every action is His because His power is our power.
God is Shiva and Shakti, consciousness and its power. We are that Shiva and Shakti. Realization is experiencing permanently the witness that is our true Self, the one consciousness and power that is God.
There is an insufficiency is us that prefers to hold some separation. We think, “I could not possibly be God. I am imperfect.” It becomes easy to think this when we have hidden the divinity, the God within for our entire lives. We believe our experience and that is that our mind doesn’t know God. God is not known through thoughts. God is known in the supreme stillness as absolute, bliss, consciousness. In that stillness, enlightenment dawns. We realize that God has been there as our true Self, our awareness, our power, our existence, always.
